Application Range Of The NTC Thermistor 650R


The overcurrent protection type PTC thermistor is mainly used for overcurrent and thermal protection of [transformer (adapter)/primary coil/charger/digital multimeter/smart watt-hour meter/micromotor/transistor], etc., and is directly connected in series in the load circuit. When there is an abnormal situation in the line, it can automatically limit the overcurrent or block the current, and return to the original state after the fault is eliminated, commonly known as "ten thousand times fuse".

Application principle Of The NTC Thermistor 650R


The overcurrent protection type PTC thermistor is connected in series in the power circuit. When the circuit is in a normal state, the current flowing through the PTC is less than the rated current, the PTC is in a normal state, and the resistance is small, which will not affect the electronic ballast (energy saving). Lights, transformers, multimeters) and other protected circuits work normally. When the circuit current greatly exceeds the rated current, the PTC heats up suddenly, and the resistance value suddenly increases to a high resistance state, thereby limiting or blocking the current and protecting the circuit from damage. After the current returns to normal, the PTC also automatically returns to a low resistance state, and the circuit resumes normal operation.
Overcurrent protection type PTC thermistor is used in electronic ballasts (energy-saving lamps, transformers, multimeters) and other overcurrent protection applications. With its scientific research and technological advantages, AMPFORT is the first to introduce high withstand voltage (V≥ 300V AC) featuring the WMZ12 type product.

When using PTC as an overcurrent protection element, generally the appropriate specifications for the maximum non-operating current and maximum working voltage should be selected, and factors such as the overall size of the element, rated zero-power resistance, and operating temperature range should also be considered. Usually, 1.2 to 1.5 times the maximum working current of the circuit during normal operation is taken as the maximum non-operating current of the PTC; the voltage that may be applied to the PTC under the normal or abnormal state of the circuit should not be greater than its maximum working voltage.
