PTC thermistors as limit temperature sensors With PTC thermistors as temperature sensors only the steep region of the R/T characteristic is used. The resistance of the PTC thermistor is to be regarded as a function of the ambient temperature [RPTC = f (TA)]. The precondition for this relationship between resistance and ambient temperature is that selfheating and/or the varistor effect are excluded. This means that these PTC thermistors must be operated in the lowest possible field strengths. To enable a fast response, thermistor sensors have especially small dimensions. High control accuracy is achieved by using materials with an extra steep resistance/temperature characteristic. Limit temperature measurement for industrial applications A PTC thermistor can be used effectively to detect whether a temperature limit in industrial equipment, liquids, etc. is exceeded. The PTC thermistor is mounted in thermal contact with the medium that has to be protected from overheating. When the rated temperature limit of the medium is reached, the resistance of the PTC thermistor increases abruptly. In connection with a control unit, this signal can be used to automatically switch off the power supply of a load. Advantages of PTC limit temperature sensors


PTC thermistors are temperature-dependent resistors based on special semiconductor ceramics with a high positive temperature coefficient (PTC). Handling Of The PTC Thermistor 100 Ohms 70°C Bead


PTCs must not be dropped. Chip-offs must not be caused during handling of PTCs.
The ceramic and metallization of the components must not be touched with bare hands. Gloves
are recommended.
Avoid contamination of thermistor surface during handling.

 


Soldering (where applicable) Of The PTC Thermistor 100 Ohms 70°C Bead


Use rosin-type flux or non-activated flux.
Insufficient preheating may cause ceramic cracks.
Rapid cooling by dipping in solvent is not recommended.
Complete removal of flux is recommended.
Standard PTC heaters are not suitable for soldering.

 

 

Storage Method Of The PTC Thermistor 100 Ohms 70°C Bead


1. In the process of storage and transportation, per stack height is not more than 4 CTN products.
2. Available with all transport method, but avoid the rain, snow of direct or indirect leaching and mechanical damage.
3. Products should be stored in the temperature of environment - 10 ℃ / + 40 ℃, relative humidity is not more than 75%,
environment should not have acid, alkali and corrosion gas or radioactive source.
4. Period of Storage:1 year.
