Overview
254SMo stainless steel has excellent acid, alkali, seawater, and
chloride corrosion resistance, especially in high chloride and
acidic environments. Its corrosion resistance is even more
outstanding.
High strength and toughness: Due to its high molybdenum, nitrogen,
chromium, and low-carbon chemical composition, 254SMo stainless
steel has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, durability,
and toughness, and can also work at high temperatures and
pressures.
Good wear resistance and corrosion cracking resistance: Due to its
special chemical composition, 254SMo stainless steel has good wear
resistance and corrosion cracking resistance, and can maintain high
performance in harsh working environments.
Large size seamless steel pipe: Compared with other steels, 254SMo
stainless steel has certain processing properties, can produce
large size seamless steel pipes, and has excellent spanwise welding
performance.
254 SMO Properties:
- Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, PRE = ≥42.5%
- High resistance to general corrosion
- High resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- Higher strength than conventional austenitic stainless steels
- Good weldability
Heat Treatment
The tubes are delivered in heat treated condition. If additional
heat treatment is needed due to further processing the following is
recommended.Solution annealing 1150–1200°C (2100–2190°F), quenching
in water. Thin-walled tubes min. 1130°C (2060°F), quenching in
air/water.
