Pylons and steel rods contemporary bridge architecture against a blue sky
Steel Tention Structures are used for “bow-string” tied-arch
bridges.
Whereas the deck is anchored at the hangers which are fitted on the
bridge piers.
Our “H-Rod” for hangers and pre-stressed bars are manufactured
using a specific industrial process including heat treatment
(Quenched + Tempered) that increase the mechanical characteristics.
Steel hangers
H-Rods from Filtaro are available in M18 until M160 and in lengths
between 200 mm and 17 meters, however the standard grades are S355,
S460, S520 and HSA.
All heat treatments and finishes are adjusted to the customer’s
grades, for ex. S355NL or S700.
H-Rods advantages:
variable yield strengths
variable tensile strengths
higher elongation
Young modulus: E = 200000 MPa +/- 5 GPa
Impact value (-20°C ) > 57J resp. -40°C or – 70°C on demand
– Threading is performed by cold rolling, in accordance with ISO
965-1.
– Standard lengths: 11800 mm
– On demand up to 17 meters
Quality Insurance:
The production of H-Rods is carried out under a strict Quality
Management System according to
ISO 9001:20015.
Moreover, each delivery is supplied with a certificate 3.1
according to the norm EN 10204 for each heat treatment lot.
Additionally each bar is individually marked with its heat
treatment lot number.
Protection:
Depending on customer requirements, hot galvanisation, zinc metal
coating or zinc multi-disc coating for subsequent treatment
according to ACQPA and RAL scale can be applied as corrosion
protection.
H-Rods in different STAINLESS STEEL grades
– The resulting ductility, tensile and yield strengths are higher
than for usual stainless grades.
– The permanent protection of the hangers is better than for other
usual austenitic stainless steel like 316L.
– The application range is particularly adapted for city or
harbours buildings close to the sea.
Corrosion protections tests under chlorine influence have proved
that this grade is more competitive on the market.
