Ferritic steels are high chromium (10.5% - 27%), magnetic stainless steels with a low carbon content and little to no nickel content. With the increase of chromium content, its corrosion resistance, toughness and weldability improve correspondently. Its resistance to chloride stress corrosion is superior to other types of stainless steel. The common ferritic grades are Crl7, Cr17Mo2Ti, Cr25, Cr25Mo3Ti, Cr28 and the like.

Features of Ferritic Stainless Steel

Ferritic stainless steel features high corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance due to its high chromium content, but its mechanical properties and machinability are poor. It is widely applied to acid-resistant structures with little stress and is used as anti-oxidation steel. This steel type can resist the corrosion of atmospheric, nitric acid and saline solution. It features high temperature oxidation resistance and small thermal expansion coefficient. It can be used in nitric acid and food factory equipment, and can also be used to produce parts working at high temperature, such as gas turbine parts.

Spezilla's seamless bright annealed stainless steel tubes are produced acc. to the following process and inspection to assure our quality:

1. Chemical Composition Analysis Test With 100% PMI.

2. Solution Annealing / Bright Annealed.

3. 100% Hydrostatic Test and 100% Eddy Current Test

4. Mechanical Tests includes Tension Test, Flattening Test, Flaring Test, Hardness Test.

5. Impact Test subject to Standard request.

6. Grain Size Test and Intergranular Corrosion Test.

7. Visual Test and Endoscope Test for Surface Quality Test

TP405 is a typical martensitic chromium-alloy steel grade. It does not have the nickel content and owns the following characteristic:
 

- Harding by heat treatment
- High hardness with good ductility
- Good corrosion resistance capability
- Good wear corrosion resistance
- High cold-deformation property

405 - UNS S40500:

AISI Type 405 is a martensitic stainless steel that provides high strength and hardness with moderate corrosion resistance. A wide range of properties can be developed with different heat treatments, with ultimate tensile strengths ranging from 500 to 1400 MPa. It is magnetic in both the annealed and hardened conditions. High carbon content results in the formation of chromium carbide compounds, providing excellent wear resistance and edge retention when hardened. Additionally, this grade provides excellent high temperature oxidation and scaling resistance, yet is economical due to the low alloy content. Thermal conductivity is improved and thermal expansion reduced relative to austentic stainless grades.
