Product Introduction

 

Self adhesive rubber gasket, known as double sided adhesive pads, adhesive backed rubber gasket. Self-adhesive gaskets are gaskets that have been covered with an adhesive backing. Release paper covers the adhesive and preserves its integrity until it is ready to be used. When it is time for the gasket to be installed, the release paper is peeled off and the gasket is fixed to the surface where it is being fitted.

The adhesive is used generally as an aid to fitting or assembly, rather than to perform any other structural or sealing function. The benefit of peel and stick gasket is that it enables gaskets to be installed in a much more clean and efficient way than they otherwise might be without adhesive, or by glue being added in the process of the gasket being fitted.

Self Adhesive Rubber Gasket

Self-adhesive gaskets are generally used where there is a danger of the gasket slipping, or becoming deformed, in the process of being fitted. Adhesives are also used in environments where, for safety reasons, time is a limiting factor (such as in mining or a sub-sea environment); and so gaskets must be fitted very quickly.

Self-adhesives are, therefore, generally used to help keep the gasket in place until the flange bolts are sufficiently tight to stop slippage or deformity of the gasket during the sealing process.

Adhesive backed gaskets are also used on removable panels (in, for example, electrical switchgear cabinets), where the cabinet requires a gasket to increase IP rating. This allows the panel to be removed quickly for inspection, whereas it would be time consuming and dangerous for the gasket to come off separately.

Self Adhesive Silicon Gasket Manufacturing Process:

1. Making Silicone Rubber Compression Mold.

2. After finishing mold-making, producing silicone rubber samples for test. If dimensions are OK, sending the whole piece of silicone products to factory for dealing with silicone glue & tapes.

 

Notes:

If big silicone rubber products, burring firstly, and then deal with silicone glue.

If small silicone rubber parts, generally dealing with silicone glue firstly, and then choose fixture tooling ( die-cutting) to burring. Or removing the big barbs, and then deal with the silicone glue, finally fixture tooling (die-cutting) to de-burring.

 

Knowledge of Self Adhesive Backed Tape Process

 

1. Paste double sided silicone 3m tape with the anti-adhesive sides of anti-adhesive paper;

2. Cutting the inner round holes by cutting die;

3. Silicone products are coated with silica gel treatment agent; (Notes: silica gel treatment agent should be even/ well-distributed; and should not coat on the surface of silicone products)

4. Accurate placed stick double sides silicone 3m tape, the surface of 3m tepe should be even.

(Notes: should not be a little off; and should not have bubble.)

5. Next Die Cutting for dis-burring & & remove silicone rubber flashing

6. After finishing die cutting, check if have less materials or not clear cutting.

7. Test the finished products by 3D projects and amplification instrument

8. Before packaging, check the silicone glue one by one.
