At the end of October 2011, with a total investment of RMB 2.2 billion in MA, the Specialty Steel Company was formally put into production which marks a deepening products restructuring and significant technological transformation in MA.
Goal
To make MA the high-speed wheel production base in China. Aim for the high-grade ring steel, alloy tube billets, high-grade cold heading steel, axle steel, bearing steel, spring steel, pinion steel, die steel, electromechanical rotor steel and other high-end steel.

Content of gases: T.O can be stably controlled to below 15ppm for wheel and axle steel and 20ppm for other steels; [N] can be stably controlled to below 50ppm and to about 40ppm for wheel steel; [H] can be stably controlled to below 1.0ppm. Quality of billets: billet surface basically defects free, size and dimension accurate control, cut-to-length qualification above 95% and macrostructure qualification ≥99%.

 

A construction project of a new high-precision wheel machining and inspecting line was completed in 2013. The line includes a modern inspection line, a high-precision web hole drilling and hub boring equipment to meet the final machining of 50,000 high-precision wheels.

The process includes degreasing, hot water washing, cold water washing, drying, solvent cleaning, masking, painting, drying and checking.

Wheel R&D: Wheel Forging Design

The Numeral Simulation of Wheel Forming technique is widely used in tool design to get a precise blank.

The automatic programming technology is applied on smart tool and cutting force selection to reduce tool consumption, prolong the life of machining equipment and produce precise wheels.

Through persistent upgrading of heat treatment equipment and tooling, and technology improvement such as introducing process numerical simulation method, the property and quality of wheels are enhanced.

2. Microalloying method is applied to optimize the design of alloying composition of the steel and to stabilize high level of hardness of the wheel obtained through heat treatment. So the wheels' ability of resistance to contact fatigue peeling and abnormal wear is improved and the trend of mechanical and thermal damage is retarded.
