The advantages of single-layer winding are that the process of less winding coil number is relatively simple; the utilization rate of slot without interlayer insulation is improved; the single-layer structure will not have interphase breakdown fault, etc. The disadvantage is that the electromagnetic wave generated by the winding is not ideal, the motor core loss and noise are large, and the starting performance is also slightly poor, so the single-layer winding is generally only used in small capacity asynchronous motor.

The volume of honeycomb coil is small, the potential capacitance is small, the inductance is large, and the Q value is high, so the tuning coil, oscillation coil and high frequency choke coil of many radios are wound in this way, the effect is better than other ways. In the factory, this kind of coil is usually made by honeycomb car.
