Application Of Molybdenum Copper Alloy 50Mo/50Cu

1. Description of Molybdenum Copper Alloy 50Mo/50Cu:

What is Molybdenum Copper Alloy?

MoCu alloy (MoCu alloy) is an alloy of molybdenum and copper. Both tungsten and molybdenum are refractory alloys (tungsten melting point is 3410 ° C, molybdenum melting point is 2615 ° C), both in the VIB group in the periodic table, and their chemical properties are very similar. A large part of the application range of tungsten copper overlaps. The biggest difference between the two is the density (the density of tungsten is 19.3g/cm3, and the density of molybdenum is 10.2g/cm3). Therefore, tungsten copper is suitable for high specific gravity materials, and high specific gravity materials are mostly Tungsten is the main component, while molybdenum and copper are light in weight and are often used as accessories for aerospace and aviation instruments. Molybdenum copper has been widely used in electrical alloys for high-voltage vacuum switches, microelectronic packaging heat sink materials, wire cutting electrode wires, and instrumentation components.

3. Application of Molybdenum Copper Alloy 50Mo/50Cu:

1) In devices that require high thermal conductivity, such as ultra-high frequency metal-ceramic tubes, high-power transistors, etc., which require good thermal conductivity, as well as the lower electrode and substrate of high-power silicon wafers, thermal resistance can be reduced and work can be improved. stability and longevity. Mo-Cu and Mo-Cu2Ni have good wettability to Ag2Cu brazing material, and the sealing quality is very high. However, the disadvantage of this material is that it cannot be welded by argon arc, so its application is limited. If it can be made into a sheet (thickness less than 1.1cm), it may be used for device frame leads, because molybdenum-copper alloy has better heat resistance (will not soften when heated) and meet the required thermal and electrical conductivity.

2) Molybdenum copper sheet and copper molybdenum copper composite sheet can be used as radiator. The thermal conductivity of the molybdenum-15%-18% copper alloy can reach 160W/(m·K); the vertical thermal conductivity of the copper-molybdenum-copper composite plate is 7% higher than that of pure molybdenum, and the increase in the horizontal direction is greater. 3) In addition to the above advantages, molybdenum copper alloy also has good heat resistance and high high temperature strength. Although its gas ablation resistance and re-entry heat resistance are not as good as tungsten copper alloys, it is still better than some existing materials, so it can replace these materials and obtain new applications.
