1. Decription of Tungsten and Tungsten Alloy Pin Diameter 5.5mm:

 

Tungsten pin is a tungsten product made of pure tungsten or tungsten alloy with a slender structure.It can be used as an instrument probe and as an electrode material for argon arc welding. High temperature resistance and superior electrical conductivity are its benefits.

 

Tungsten pin are mainly used to make electrodes for arc tubes of high-intensity gas discharge lamps.

 

Due to the properties of tungsten, it is well suited for tiG welding and other electrode materials for similar jobs. Adding rare earth oxides to tungsten metal to stimulate its electron work function improves the welding performance of tungsten electrodes: better arc starting performance of the electrode, higher stability of the arc column, and lower electrode burnout rate.

 

 

2. Classification of Tungsten and Tungsten Alloy Pin Diameter 5.5mm:

 

Tungsten pin can be divided into round rod-shaped tungsten needles and pointed tungsten needles according to their shapes.

 

Round rod of Tungsten Pin


The round rod-shaped tungsten needle has a slender structure and a metallic surface. Used for argon arc welding electrodes. TIG welding technology is the fastest growing and most widely used welding technology at home and abroad. In particular, manual argon tungsten arc welding has become an indispensable means in the welding of various metal structures.

 

During welding, the filler metal is fed from one side while an arc is created between the tungsten electrode and the workpiece. The filler metal and the workpiece melt together to form a weld under the influence of the arc heat.

 

The welding current shouldn't be too high in order to avoid the electrode melting and burning. The butt junction of pipes and the joining of pipes and tube sheets are two examples of applications where argon tungsten arc welding is typically appropriate for thin plates below 4mm.

Tungsten pin with pointed tips are mainly used for instrument probes. Such as a digital four-probe tester, this device is a multi-purpose comprehensive measurement device using the four-probe measurement principle.

4. Applictaion of Tungsten and Tungsten Alloy Pin Diameter 5.5mm:

 

Tungsten has a high melting point (3683 °C ± 20 °C), strong electron emission ability, high elastic modulus, and low vapor pressure, so it has been used as a thermionic emission material for a long time. The emission efficiency of the pure metal tungsten electrode is very low, and the tungsten wire sags and breaks due to recrystallization at high temperature to form an equiaxed grain structure. In order to overcome the above shortcomings and adapt to the development of new technologies and processes in modern industries, material workers from all over the world are devoting themselves to the research and development of various new electrode materials. Doping some rare earth oxides with low electron work function based on tungsten can not only increase the recrystallization temperature, but also activate electron emission. Rare earth metal oxides have excellent thermionic emission capabilities, and rare earth tungsten electrode materials have always been the development direction to replace traditional radioactive thoriated tungsten electrode materials.

 

Tungsten pin play an important role in arc starting, arc stability and welding quality in argon tungsten arc welding. The mass loss of the tungsten electrode occurs under the high temperature of the arc, which is called ablation of the tungsten electrode. In order to facilitate the discussion of the ablation mechanism of tungsten electrodes, ablation can be divided into ablation of added oxides and ablation of tungsten itself.
