Description
High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy is an oxygen supply system
capable of delivering up to 100% humidified and heated oxygen at a
high flow rate per minute.
Humidified high flow nasal cannula therapy is a form of
non-invasive respiratory support which has been compared to
continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).
Application
The use of HFNC in patients with Acute Heart Failure /Pulmonary
edema
Other applications of HFNC include the prevention of postextubation
hypoxaemia, pre-oxygenation before sedation/anaesthesia and
oxygenation during bronchoscopy
