How to arrange the heat treatment process of workpiece processed by CNC lathe? In order to improve the mechanical properties of materials, improve the cutting performance of materials and eliminate the internal stress of workpieces, some heat treatment procedures should be properly arranged in the process of CNC lathe processing. The arrangement of the heat treatment process in the process route mainly depends on the material of the parts and the purpose of heat treatment.

(1) Preparatory heat treatment.
The purpose of preparatory heat treatment is to improve the cutting
performance of the trend, eliminate the residual stress during the
blank production of CNC lathe machining, and improve the structure.
The process position is mostly before machining, and the commonly
used ones are annealing and normalizing.
(2) Relief of residual stress heat treatment.
Since the internal stress generated during the manufacturing and
machining of the blank will cause the deformation of the workpiece
and affect the processing quality, it is necessary to arrange heat
treatment for the elimination of residual stress. Heat treatment
for residual stress relief is best arranged after rough machining
and before finishing.
For parts that do not require high precision, artificial aging and
annealing to eliminate residual stress are generally arranged
before the blank enters the machining workshop. For complex
castings with high precision requirements, two aging treatments are
usually arranged in the machining process: casting-rough
machining-aging-semi-finishing-aging-finishing. For high-precision
parts, such as precision steel wires, precision spindles, etc.,
multiple heat treatments for residual stress relief should be
arranged, and even cold treatments should be used to stabilize the
dimensions.
(3) Final heat treatment
The purpose of the final heat treatment is to improve the strength,
surface hardness and wear resistance of the parts, and it is often
arranged before the finishing process (grinding). Quenching,
carburizing, nitriding and carbonitriding are commonly used.
