Instruction of D2.5L5.5m Yokohama Type Ship Rubber Bumper Pneumatic Fender RS Approved
Pneumatic rubber fender is installed on the dock or ship, to absorb
the collision energy between the ship and the dock or ship when
berthing or mooring, and to protect the ship and the dock from
damage.
Pneumatic rubber fender has the advantages of low reaction force,
small surface pressure and reasonable energy absorption. In
berthing, the ship rolling and pitching adaptability, it will not
affected by the size of the ship and is widely used for
installation and maintenance convenient, especially suitable for
the dock.
Florescence pneumatic rubber fenders is constructed of four parts.
1. Outer rubber
Rubber layer that covers the outside of the fender to protect the
cord layers and the inner liner rubber from abrasion and other
external forces.
2. Cord layers
Layer made of synthetic-tyre-cord fabric, which maintains the
intemal air pressure of the fender.
3. Inner rubber
Liner of a rubber membrane that seals the pressurized air inside
the fender.
4. Flange opening
Steel flange which is mounted on the fender, to which an air valve
or safety valve can be adapted.
Features of pneumatic rubber fenders
(1) High energy absorption
The amount of energy absorbed is the main technical performance
indicators fender instruments. With the ship's tonnage growth,
berthing operations, ship collision energy contact quay or other
ships also doubled. Huge collision energy must rely on the contact
area on the fender and enough to absorb sufficient deformation.
Fenders use compressed air as the buffer medium to absorb ship
impact energy and have good elasticity.
(2) Ultra low back pressure
The inside air of pneumatic fenders is low pressure gas, the
internal pressure increase is very limited during compression
deformation. Due to the large contact area, unit pressure acting on
the ship hull surface is very low, compared with other fender
instruments, is not the common low back pressure.
(3) Inclined contact, good adaptability
Ship must have certain angle which have the possibility of
contacting the side of the shore. As the inclined interface of
pneumatic fender, its adaptability is much higher than other
fender.
(4)Floating performance is good, not subject to tidal influence,
fender can be maintained in the ideal level
Pneumatic marine fenders floating on the water surface (more than
50% of the volume), along with the change of position is not
relative to the tidal fluctuation. Especially the ship as the waves
rolling, cylindrical inflatable fenders with rolling, the friction
force is very small. So it will not damage the coating surface of
the hull, and also decrease the moving.
(5) Both end fender flange produced by special materials, acid and
alkali resistance, oxidation resistance, not easy to rust.

Purpose of pneumatic fenders
♦ Ship to ship berthing
Accompanied by a large ship, the risk of two ship berthing at sea
is also increased, especially when the weather changes, accompanied
by wind and waves.Adopt pneumatic fender as side of the buffer, not
only make heavy berthing becomes easy, and improve the efficiency
of the transportation operations. Pneumatic fender is mainly used
for: Ice in the Antarctic ocean fishing ships, large oil tanker
berthing.
♦ Used for terminal dock protection
Of the ship is very large, the cause of berthing impact energy have
multiplied.Inflatable rubber fender because of its high energy
absorption and low reaction force features are widely used.
Operation of floating pneumatic fender
For large tankers,normally 4-6 sets of pneumatic rubber fenders are hanged at the water line of the ship side. When 4 fenders are used, 2 sets are placed at the front and 2 sets at the rear,they are all large scale fenders.In case 6 fenders are hanged on the ship side,1 small fender will be placed at ship bow and another small fender at ship stern.
When fenders are not used,they should be craned to the deck and placed on the anti-rolling seats.
In recent years,there is a new upsurge of wharf and port building.Because of the super large ships,the berthing collision energy is multiplied.Due to the low energy absorption and large reaction force of previous rubber fenders at the wharf, The ship side and docks usually may be damaged.The low compression reaction force property of pneumatic rubber fender conforms to the dock construction light-weighting trend and protects the ship side from damage as well.Therefore,Florescence Pneumatic rubber fenders are widely used in large-scale docks,wharves and offshore platforms.
