Navigation lights are luminaires that indicate the position and direction of a ship
while sailing. There are 3 types of mast lights, side lights and
tail lights.
Mast Light: Installed on the top of the mast on the centerline of the ship's
bow and stern, it displays an uninterrupted white light in the 225°
horizontal arc directly ahead, and the visibility distance is 2 to
6 nautical miles.
Sidelights: There are red lights for port and green lights for starboard. Each
of them displays uninterrupted red and green lights in the
horizontal arc from the front of the ship to the horizontal arc of
22.5° behind the ship's side, and the visibility distance is 1 to 3
nautical miles.
Taillight: Installed at the stern, showing uninterrupted white light within a
horizontal arc of 135° directly behind, with a visible distance of
2 to 3 nautical miles.
Signal lights indicate the state of the ship or provide a class of lights. There
are all-round lights, mooring lights, flashing lights and
communication flashing lights.
All-round light: It can display uninterrupted white, red, green or yellow light in
a 360° horizontal arc, with a visibility distance of 2 to 3
nautical miles.
Anchor Lights: Two white light-emitting lights mounted on the bow and stern of
the ship from sunset to sunrise when the ship is at anchor.
Flashing light: installed above the sidelight, when the ship is
turning left or right, it will emit red or green all-round signal
light at specified time intervals.
Communication Flash: Also known as Morse Signal. It is manually operated and emits
white light according to the Morse telegraph code signal for
short-range communication. Including directional light-emitting
hand-held or swivel-mount communication flashes, all-round
light-emitting mast-top communication flashes.
In addition, the boat lights also have lifebuoy self-illuminating floating
lights and life jacket position indicator lights. The former is
attached to the lifebuoy and automatically ignites when the lamp
floats at sea. It is a battery-type watertight lamp. The latter is
attached to a life jacket for nighttime use and is a
battery-operated watertight floating light.
