Description:

Classification of switching power supply

People in the field of switching power supply technology is the development of related power electronic devices and the development of switching frequency conversion technology, the two parts promote each other to promote switching power supply every year to more than two digit growth rate toward the direction development of light, small, thin, low noise, high reliability and anti interference. Switching power supply can be divided into two major categories of AC/DC and DC/DC, DC/DC converter has been module type with the design technology and production technology at home and abroad and it has been mature and standardized and has been recognized by users. AC/DC modular, however, because of its own feature, in the process of modularization, makes the technique and technology problems of manufacturing more complicated . The structure and characteristics of the two types of switching power supply are described as follows.

 

DC/DC conversion

DC/DC conversion is the conversion of a fixed DC voltage into a variable DC voltage, also known as DC chopper. Chopper working mode has two ways, one is pulse width modulation mode, TS is unchanged and TON(general) is changed, the second is frequency modulation mode, TON is unchanged, Ts is changed (easy to produce interference). The specific circuit consists of the following categories:

(1) Buck circuit -- buck chopper, whose output average voltage

(2) Boost circuit - boost chopper, its output average voltage

(3) Buck-boost circuit -- Buck or Boost chopper, which

(4) CUK circuit - step-down or boost chopper, its output average electricity

 

The above is the non-isolation circuit, the isolation circuit has forward circuit, fly back circuit, half bridge circuit, full bridge circuit and push-pull circuit.

Today's soft switching technology makes DC/DC have a qualitative leap, VICOR designed and manufactured of a variety of ECI soft switching DC/DC converter, its maximum output power is 300W, 600W and 800W etc. The corresponding power density is (6.2,10,17)W/cm3, the efficiency is 80~90 %. Japan Nemic Lambda company's latest launched a high frequency switching power module RM series using soft switching technology with the switching frequency of (200 ~ 300)kHz, and power density has reached 27W/cm3, the use of synchronous rectifier (MOS and FET instead of SCHOT diodes) makes the efficiency of the entire circuit increased to 90%.

 

AC/DC conversion

AC/DC transformer transforms AC into DC, and its power flow can be bidirectional. The power flow from power supply to the load is called "rectification", and the power flow from the load back to the power supply is called "active inverter". AC/DC converter input is 50/60Hz alternating current, because it must be rectified and filtering, so relatively large volume of filtering capacitor is essential, at the same time due to safety standards (such as UL, CCEE, etc.) and EMC directive restrictions (such as IEC, FCC, CSA), AC input side must add EMC filter and use components in accordance with safety standards , thus limiting the miniaturization of AC/DC power supply volume. In addition, due to internal high frequency, high voltage, large current switch action, It makes to increase difficulties of solving the problem of electromagnetic compatibility EMC, and because of the same reason of the request of high density installation circuit design, the high voltage and high current switches make power supply loss increased and limit the modularization process of AC/DC converter. Therefore, the optimization design method of power supply system must be adopted to make the efficiency of AC/DC converter reach a certain degree of satisfaction.

AC/DC transform can be divided into half-wave circuit and full-wave circuit according to the wiring mode of the circuit. According to the number of power supply, phase can be divided into single phase, three phase and multi phase. According to the circuit working quadrant, it can be divided into one quadrant, two quadrant, three quadrant and four quadrant.

 

Selection of switching power supply
