KC certification
Introduction to South Korea KC certification
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) announced on August 25,
2008 that the Korean National Standards Committee will implement
the new national unified mark "KC" mark from July 2009 to December
2010. The "KC" mark means "Korea Certification". KC certification
is the Korean electrical and electronic product safety
certification system. It is based on the Korean Electronics
Standards Institute (KATS) and was implemented on January 1, 2009
in accordance with the "Electrical Appliances Safety Management
Act" compulsory safety certification system.
In order to avoid duplication of certifications, EMC and security will be managed separately from July 1, 2012. For electronic and electrical products applying for Korean certification, KC certificates and KCC must be obtained to meet safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements. Certificate (new MSIP). There are two certification agencies for KC certification: KTC (Korea Testing and Certification) and KTL (Korea Electrical Testing Institute). These two are not only KC certification agencies, but also qualification testing laboratories.
In terms of safety standards, all products entering the Korean
market need to comply with the Korean safety standard K standard
(similar to the IEC standard). When using IEC standards, Korean
requirements must be met. National differences can be found in the
IECB’s CB System Announcement. In terms of EMC, the Korean EMI
standard is similar to the CISPR standard, and the EMS standard is
similar to the EN standard.
Certification classification
South Korea's KC certification is divided into "KC safety" and "KC
electromagnetic compatibility and radio frequency"
(1) KC Security
The latest "Electrical Appliance Safety Management Law" requires KC
safety certification to be divided into three categories according
to the degree of hazard of the product:
· safety certificate
Self-discipline safety confirmation
· Supplier Self-Confirmation (SDoC)
Certificate validity period
1. Mandatory safety certification --- None, annual audit remains
valid (template below)
2. Self-discipline safety confirmation-5 years
3. Supplier self-confirmation-----no certificate, confirmation is
permanently valid
Factory inspection requirements: Mandatory safety certification
requires first factory inspection and annual audit
Certificate holder requirements: Mandatory safety certification
must be a factory certificate, the other two types of certification
can be held by factories/manufacturers/importers.
(B) KC EMC and RF
KC EMC and KC RF certifications include electromagnetic
compatibility testing, radio frequency and telecommunications
testing. According to the requirements of the latest Radio Wave
Law, the certification system is divided into three categories
according to the level of hazardous radio environments of products:
· Conformity certification ·
Compatibility registration
· Provisional qualification
Applicable product range
The product range of KC certification generally includes electrical
products with AC 50 volts and above 1000 volts. In addition to
products that must obtain safety certification, they must also
apply for self-regulatory safety confirmation.

application process
1. The customer prepares samples and materials and submits them to
the testing agency
2. The testing agency submits samples and data to KTL/KTC for
testing
3.KTL/KTC conducts safety testing and issues a KC test report after
the test is completed.
4. (If any) For safety certification, KTL/KTC need to arrange
factory inspection and then conduct annual factory audit every
year.
5. KTL/KTC audit report and other application documents, KC
certificate will be issued if there are no problems

The difference between Korean KC certification and KCC
certification
KCC is a mandatory certification for IT information, telecommunications and RF products in the Korean market, including electromagnetic compatibility testing, telecommunications testing and radio frequency testing. The Korean Radiocommunication Commission authorizes the Korean Radio Research Institute (RRA) as the KCC certification body. Starting from January 1, 2011, the original Korean KCC mark will be uniformly converted to KC. Therefore, KCC certification and KC certification use the same certification mark. The difference is that the KCC certification mark will carry the KCC ID number.
KC Nameplate Requirements
The KC nameplate must include the following:
① KC mark (including certificate number SUxxxxxxxx)
② Product name (must be displayed in Korean)
③ Model name
④ Voltage frequency
⑤ Factory name
⑥ Manufacturing country
⑦ Double insulation mark "back" (if required))
⑧Year of production
⑨A/S after-sales service phone number (must be in South Korea)
