BPP CERTIFICATION WIRELESS CHARGING QI CERTIFICATION THE "QI" LOGO BELONGS TO THE WPC ALLIANCE

WPC Wireless Charging Alliance

In the current field of commercial mobile phone wireless charging, the qi standard of the WPC Alliance has an absolute advantage. As of August, 628 companies around the world have joined qi members, including internationally renowned companies such as Apple, Samsung, LG, and Haier.

The "qi" logo belongs to the WPC Alliance. To use this logo on wireless charging products, you first need to be authorized by WPC. If used without authorization, it is an infringement and will be punished by WPC or face product removal. In addition, after wireless charging products pass Qi certification, all indicators meet the requirements of Qi standards, which is also a guarantee of the quality of the product itself. Consumers using products that have passed Qi certification are obviously safer and more reliable than those that have not passed Qi certification.

To apply for Qi certification for a product, the company first needs to register as a WPC member and pay membership fees. Members include small business members, ordinary members, fully qualified members and founding members. Different members pay different membership fees and obtain different rights.

After the company applies to become a WPC member and pays the annual fee, it can apply for authorization to use the "qi" logo. The company's corresponding documents must be sent to the qi headquarters. After approval, the authorization can be obtained.

When obtaining authorization, you can prepare 5 functioning prototypes. And send them to domestic certification laboratories designated by WPC, such as Anzheng , SGS, Prises, etc., and then the solution company and customer fill in the corresponding product model, WPC member name and certification type. Certified products are divided into two types: BPP (Baseline Power Profile) and EPP (Extended Power Profile) according to different load powers. BPP covers products with output power less than or equal to 5W, and EPP covers products with output power greater than 5W to 30W. After that, you need to pay the testing fee. Domestic certification laboratories generally charge RMB 25,000-30,000 for BPP certification and around RMB 150,000 for EPP certification.

QI test content

1. Compliance testing
Compliance testing laboratory ATL (Authorized Test Lab) currently has many choices in China. At least 1 of the 5 prototypes submitted for testing will be arranged for compliance testing first. The compliance testing samples will be retained after passing the test. ATL. The main test contents include:
A. Timing of communication protocol between transmitter and receiver;
B. Test the power output capability through translation of the XYZ axis;
C. Maximum supply capacity of energy transmission;
D. Foreign object detection FOD (Foreign Object Detection)

2. Compatibility testing
There are only two compatibility test laboratories IOC (Interoperability Test Center) in the world, namely Belgium in Europe and South Korea in Asia.
After passing the compliance test, ATL will divide the other four samples sent for testing into two groups and send them to laboratories in Belgium and South Korea for compatibility testing projects. Two samples will be kept in the main IOC laboratory, and the other two samples will be kept in the main IOC laboratory. Two remain in the auxiliary IOC laboratory. After the compatibility test is completed in the IOC laboratory, the submitting party can perform the "confirm completion" action on the official website, and the product will be included in the WPC official website. You can query it by entering the product ID number on the official website, and the tested products will be retained. On the Test Bed.
According to WPC requirements, all test samples need to be tested for compatibility with all previously certified samples. For example, if the product being tested is a wireless charging transmitter, then it needs to be tested with all WPC Qi-certified receivers (including mobile phones). Compatibility testing. According to the Qi testing process, the products submitted for testing must be sent for compatibility testing after passing the compliance test. If the compatibility test fails, the sample needs to be brought back for rectification. After the rectification is completed, it cannot be sent directly for compatibility testing. Instead, the compliance test and compatibility test need to be retested.

QI certification lead time

Calculated according to the normal test time, if the product submitted for testing does not have any failed items, it will take 4-5 weeks to pass all the test items at once, plus some turnaround time, etc., so the general certification cycle is 1.5-2 About months.

According to WPC data, taking November 2017, the peak period of certification, as an example, a total of nearly 30% of the products submitted for testing failed to pass the first compatibility test, while the first-time failure rate of EPP tested samples was as high as 61.5%. Even for the now relatively common BPP test, there is still a failure rate of close to 20%.

Therefore, choosing an appropriate solution before product development will be of great help for subsequent certification. Xuxinsheng's wireless charging solution has been continuously updated and optimized, and its current BPP certification pass rate has been greatly improved.
