Product Description

Woven roving is a great option for boat building, especially with chopped strand mats. Woven roving is a heavy, coarse plain weave cloth. Bundles of roving are woven together loosely at 90 degrees. It comes in 18 and 24-oz weights. (We only sell the 24 oz woven roving by the yard).

Woven roving is used to build up thickness quickly. The continuous filaments add strength. A drawback is that with the woven bundles there is crimping. The crimp points can fracture.

Typically when using woven roving, it is alternately layered with a chopped strand mat. The reason to use a mat with roving is because of the knobbiness (bumpiness) of the roving. It is hard to adhere another layer of roving or cloth to it. There will be many voids left behind if done so. It will also be heavy from the extra resin needed to fill those voids.

Product Features

Texturized fiberglass yarns withstand temperatures up to 1000°F

The product is entirely incombustible.
Chemical Resistance: Resists most acids, alkalis, and
solvents except for hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric.

 

 

Main applications:

The fiberglass plain weave fabric is a fabric woven in plain method with E-glass
or C-glass roving. It is also named "E-glass or C-glass roving cloth.” The fabric
could be easily impregnated with resin and it comes out with high adhesion strength; additionally, this fabric is with high performance in chemical-corrosion resistance, fire resistance, heat resistance, and durability. So as it is widely used in GFRP (glass fiber reinforced plastics) industry and other chemical-corrosion, fire-resistance, and heat-resistant material and projects.
