1. Introduction

LWGYML series turbine flow meter is a new generation kind of flow meter that absorbs the advanced technologies of flow meter at home and abroad. It has been optimized and designed to have so many characteristics, such as simple structure, light weight, high precision, good repeatability,easy installation and usage.

It is widely used in the sealed pipelines which doesn’t have corrosion function on SS 1Cr18Ni9Ti, 2Cr13, corundum Al2O3 and cemented carbide and have no fiber, particle and so on. The liquid should be less than 5*10-6m2/s with viscosity under working temperature, if the viscosity of the liquid is more than 5*10-6m2/s, then the flow meter can be used after calibration. If it is equipped with other display devices with special functions, it can also do quantity control, excessive alarm and so on. It is really perfect in flow measurement and energy

conservation.

 

2. Features

  • High accuracy, usually reach ±1%R,±0.5%R,or even reach ±0.2%R for high-precision type.
  • Good repeatability, it can reach 0.05%-0.2% in short term, if regular calibration or online calibration can get an extremely high accuracy, so it is preferred in foreign trade.
  • Pulse signal output, it is suitable for totalizer measurement and computer connection, no zero drift,strong capacity of resisting disturbance.
  • High frequency signal(3-4KHz), strong signal resolution.
  • Wide range, middle and big diameter can reach 1:20, and small diameter can reach 1:10.
  • Compact structure, easy installation and maintenance.

3. Application

Turbine flowmeters are widely used in the following measurement objects: petroleum, organic liquids, inorganic liquids, liquefied gas, natural gas, coal gas and cryogenic fluids. It is widely used in the transfer and gathering stations of foreign liquefied petroleum gas, refined oil and light crude oil, and the first and last stations of large crude oil pipelines for trade settlement. In Europe and the United States, turbine flow meters are second only to orifice flow meters for natural gas measurement. In the Netherlands alone, more than 2,600 gas turbine flow meters of various sizes and pressures ranging from 0.8 MPa to 6.5 MPa are used in natural gas pipelines. Has become an excellent natural gas flow meter. Although the excellent metering characteristics of turbine flowmeters are favored by people, they give people the impression that they are made of movable parts and have a short service life. They can't help but hesitate when choosing them. After people's unremitting efforts, it should be said that the situation has improved greatly. Turbine flowmeter, as the most common flowmeter, has developed into a multi-variety, full-series, and multi-specification mass production scale. In addition to a large number of applications in the aforementioned industrial sectors, turbine flowmeters are also widely used in some special sectors, such as scientific research, national defense science and technology, and measurement sectors. The use of these fields just avoids its weaknesses (not suitable for long-term continuous use) and gives full play to Its characteristics (high precision, good repeatability, can be used in high pressure, high temperature, low temperature and micro flow conditions). In these fields, most of them are designed according to the special requirements of the tested objects. They are special instruments and are not mass-produced.

 

4. Turbine flow meter Advantages and Disadvantages

  • The cost is moderate.
  • Very good at clean, low viscosity fluids of moderate velocity and a steady rate.
  • Turndown is very good as it can read very low compared to the greatest flow.
  • They are reliable if put in a clean fluid especially if it has some lubricity.
  • AGA and API approved for custody transfers.
  • They do cause some pressure drop where that may be a factor such as gravity flows.
  • High accuracy. Among all flowmeters, it is the most accurate flowmeter.
  • No zero drift, good anti-interference ability.

Turbine Meter Disadvantages

  • Not reliable for steam.
  • Bearings wear out.
  • Requires constant backpressure to prevent cavitation.
  • Accuracy adversely affected by bubbles in liquids.
  • Turbine meters can be used with clean liquids and gases only (may need to install a strainer upstream to prevent damage from particulates).
  • Not applicable for measuring corrosive fluids.
  • May not function properly with high viscosity fluids where the flow profile is laminar.
  • Cannot maintain calibration characteristics for a long time.
