Disinfection principle
Ultraviolet rays can be divided into three types: UVA, UVB, and
UVC.
These three kinds of ultraviolet rays all have a certain
sterilization and disinfection effect, and now it is also a
broad-spectrum sterilization and disinfection method, which can
disinfect and sterilize the surface of objects, indoor air quality,
water and other liquids. But short- and medium-wave ultraviolet
rays are very harmful to the body, burning the skin in a short
time, and long-term or high-toughness skin cancer. There are
generally two types of ultraviolet germicidal lamps on the market:
simple ultraviolet lamps and active oxygen lamps.
UVC ultraviolet sterilization time
At this stage, the sterilization efficiency of UVC is still very
high, and there is no promotion technology. The sterilization
efficiency is 99%-99.9%, and the general sterilization time of
several bacteria and viruses is generally within 1 second.
Traditional organic chemical disinfection methods such as hydrogen
and active oxygen generally take 20 minutes to 1 hour to achieve
the actual sterilization effect of ultraviolet UVC, which varies
greatly.
In fact, we can see the very simple initial ultraviolet germicidal
lamp in many places, as long as the area irradiated by ultraviolet
rays can be reasonably disinfected.
For reactive oxygen species, the key to sterilization is that it is
an oxidizing agent, and redox reactions according to cell biology
can make bacteria unspecific.
The addition of this aspect is mainly to better fill the bug that
the ultraviolet rays can only be directly exposed. It is easy to
understand that reactive oxygen species can be encapsulated in the
dark parts that are not exposed to ultraviolet rays, and there will
always be barriers in the home environment, and these blocked parts
are precisely the areas where bacteria and viruses are most likely
to grow. Therefore, blind spots can be taken care of by
disinfecting the entire house with reactive oxygen species."
"Applications of UV lamps:
Microbial sterilization, surface sterilization, water treatment
sterilization, air sterilization, food sterilization, vending
machine sterilization, water treatment sterilization, packaging
material sterilization, milk powder bag milk powder can
sterilization, lunch box sterilization, shoe industry mildew proof,
medicinal material sterilization , Lycium barbarum dried fruit
sterilization, small household appliances sterilization, water
quality analysis, ultraviolet digestion, low-voltage power supply,
photo-oxygen catalysis, photo-decomposition, photo-catalyst, waste
gas treatment, oil fume purification, surface modification, etc.
UVC light can effectively kill SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus that
causes COVID-19. Much of the research on this topic focuses on
far-UVC light. This is a type of UVC light that still kills germs
but is less harmful to humans.
UVC light is mainly used for disinfection in healthcare settings.
While you can buy a UVC light lamp for your home, remember that
these lamps are often lower in intensity.
Also, the optimal length of exposure, wavelength, and dose of UVC
light needed for killing the new coronavirus is yet to be
determined.
Everyday exposure to ultraviolet light, from turning it on to
leaving the disinfection room, will be in contact for a few seconds
every day. Will it be harmful to the human body in the long run?
If the time is very short, the harm is not great. Be careful not to
expose your eyes and bare skin to the radiation range of UV-C. Pay
special attention not to look directly at the lamp tube, and it is
best to wear glasses (or goggles) in the disinfection room.
Our UV manufacturers, employees and technicians have to assemble
and test UV lamps every day, and use cardboard to block the light
of the UV lamps. For 20 years, my skin and eyes are fine.
