Constructed with electrolytic, multiple-stranded circular flexible tinned copper wire (rope lay) in accordance with AS/NZS 1125-2.10 standards, the conductor ensures efficient power transmission while maintaining flexibility, essential for dynamic mining environments.

 

SEPARATOR

 

A semiconducting layer is applied over earth conductors, enhancing the cable’s electrical properties and minimizing the risk of signal interference or distortion. This layer contributes to the overall reliability and performance of the cable in mining applications.

 

INSULATION

 

The cable’s insulation features XR-EP-90 (Class 1) material, complying with AS/NZS 3808 standards. While earth cores remain uninsulated, the insulation on phase conductors ensures high electrical resistance and thermal stability, safeguarding against electrical faults and ensuring reliable performance in demanding conditions.

 

SCREEN

 

A semiconductive elastomer screen is applied over phase cores, providing effective shielding against electromagnetic interference. This screen enhances the cable’s performance and reliability, ensuring signal integrity in harsh mining environments.

 

LAYUP

 

All phase cores are laid up in contact with each other, optimizing space utilization and maintaining electrical integrity. Additionally, two ground cores and one pilot core are laid up in between, facilitating proper grounding and ensuring consistent power distribution within the cable.

 

BEDDING

 

The cable features a semiconducting elastomeric compound as bedding, providing additional insulation and mechanical protection. This layer enhances the cable’s resistance to environmental factors and mechanical stresses encountered in mining operations, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.

 

REINFORCEMENT

 

An open weave braid serves as reinforcement, enhancing the cable’s mechanical strength and resistance to external forces. This reinforcement layer ensures the cable’s durability and longevity, even under harsh operating conditions in mining environments.

 

OUTER SHEATH

 

Encased in an extra heavy-duty elastomer outer sheath, compliant with AS/NZS 3808 standards, the cable offers superior resistance to abrasion, chemicals, and environmental factors. This protective sheath ensures long-term reliability and performance in demanding mining applications.

 

RELATED STANDARDS

 

The AS/NZS 2802 Type 455 Mining Cable complies with AS/NZS 2802 standards, ensuring adherence to safety, performance, and quality requirements for mining cables.

 

RATED VOLTAGE

 

Rated for voltages of 3.3/3.3 kV, 6.6/6.6 kV, 11/11 kV, and 22/22 kV, the cable is suitable for various power distribution and equipment connectivity applications within mining operations.

 

TEST VOLTAGE

 

During manufacturing, the cable undergoes rigorous testing, including test voltages of 12 kV, 22 kV, 30 kV, and 45 kV, ensuring compliance with industry standards and validating its electrical integrity and insulation properties.
