DESCRIPTION
Acrylic rubber, also known as ACM (alkyl acrylate copolymer) or Hy
Temp, is a specialized rubber renowned for its exceptional heat,
aging, oil, ozone, and ultraviolet radiation resistance. Given such
remarkable properties, it is extensively utilized in various
applications, such as automotive transmissions, hoses, gaskets,
adhesives, beltings, and O-rings.
The considerable demand for acrylic rubber in the booming
automotive industry is the primary driving force behind the global
acrylic rubber market. North America and Europe are set to dominate
the market during the forecast period, fueled by the high demand
from end-user industries such as automotive and packaging. The Asia
Pacific region is expected to witness significant growth due to
rapid urbanization and improved standards of living.
WHY CHOOSE ACM
In many cases, the superior hot oil resistance of an ACM seal, as compared to an NBR material, justifies its slightly higher cost. Furthermore, when additives, like sulfur, are present in lubricating oils, ACM can be a more cost-effective solution than its pricier M-Group counterparts, such as FKM. Additionally, for certain hot air applications, ACM may be preferred over silicone-based materials. In situations where the application is susceptible to ozone and atmospheric exposure, the superior resistance to aging provided by ACM can lead to significant lifetime benefits.
