ZFeng Electrolytic capacitor

Electrolytic capacitor is a polar capacitor with electrolyte as the cathode, which has the characteristics of high capacity, low cost, and wide operating temperature range. It plays an important role in electronic circuits.

Structure and Working Principle

Electrolytic capacitors are composed of the following parts:

• Anode (positive electrode): usually made of aluminum or tantalum, covered with a layer of oxide film (such as aluminum oxide or tantalum pentoxide) on the surface, used as a dielectric.
• Cathode (negative electrode): composed of conductive materials, electrolytes (liquid or solid), and other materials.
• Electrolyte: filled between the anode and cathode, providing an ion conductive channel.

Its working principle is based on the insulation properties of the anodic oxide film and the conductivity of the electrolyte. When a direct current voltage is applied, the anodic oxide film forms an insulating layer, and ions in the electrolyte move under the action of the electric field, achieving the storage and release of charges.
