Operational Principle
The working principle of AC motors is based on Faraday's law of
electromagnetic induction and Lorentz's law of force. When direct
current passes through a pair of coils, they generate a constant
magnetic field, and according to Faraday's law of electromagnetic
induction, when a conductor moves in a magnetic field, an
electromotive force is generated inside the conductor. Using this
principle, an AC motor places a coil inside the stator of the
motor, known as the "stator winding", while winding a coil around
the rotor of the motor, known as the "rotor winding".
1. Starting stage: When the current passes through the stator
winding, the winding generates a rotating magnetic field, causing
the current in the rotor winding. Due to the interaction between
the magnetic field of the coil on the rotor and the stator winding,
an electromagnetic force is formed on the rotor, causing it to
start rotating.
2. Operation phase: Once the rotor begins to rotate, the motor will
enter the operation phase. At this stage, the magnetic field of the
stator winding will continue to rotate, while the current of the
rotor winding will continue to rotate with the action of the
rotating magnetic field. Due to the continuous changes in AC
current, the motor will maintain continuous rotational motion. 3.
Stop stage: When the power is turned off, the current in the stator
winding will stop and the magnetic field of the stator will
gradually disappear. Due to a lack of power, the rotor will stop
rotating.
Induction motor refers to a type of motor that induces current within the rotor through electromagnetic induction between the stator and rotor to achieve electromechanical energy conversion.
Characteristics of Induction Motors
1. Induction motors not only use auxiliary coils and capacitors
during start-up, but also during operation. Although the starting
torque is not very high, its structure is simple, reliable, and
efficient.
2. Can operate continuously.
3. The rated speed of the motor will also change with the size of
the load Used in applications that do not require speed braking.
5. Use E insulation levels, while UL motors use A levels.
