Motor operation is based on the attraction or repulsion between magnetic poles. Using the three-phase motor, the process starts when current flows through one of the three stator windings and generates a magnetic pole that attracts the closest permanent magnet of the opposite pole.
The rotor will move if the current shifts to an adjacent winding.
Sequentially charging each winding will cause the rotor to follow
in a rotating field. The torque in this example depends on the
current amplitude and the number of turns on the stator windings,
the strength and the size of the permanent magnets, the air gap
between the rotor and the windings, and the length of the rotating
arm. The primary difference between AC and DC motors is the power
type applied to the armature. From this vantage, a BLDC motor
actually is an AC motor. The difference between an asynchronous and
a synchronous motor is whether or not the rotor runs at the same
frequency as the stator. Each motor favors specific applications.

DC brushless motor is a typical mechatronics product composed of
the motor body and driver. Due to the self controlled operation of
brushless DC motors, they do not add additional starting windings
to the rotor like synchronous motors that start with heavy loads
under variable frequency speed regulation, nor do they generate
oscillations and out of step during sudden load changes. The
permanent magnets of small and medium-sized brushless DC motors are
now mostly made of high magnetic energy grade rare earth neodymium
iron boron (Nd Fe B) materials. Therefore, the volume of rare earth
permanent magnet brushless motors is reduced by one frame number
compared to three-phase asynchronous motors of the same capacity.
