Unreinforced thermoplastics can be processed with high speed steel: for reinforced plastics, hard alloy steels are required. The tool head should be kept sharp during all processing. Due to the poor thermal conductivity of plastics, it is necessary to ensure the loss of heat. The best cooling method is through the tool head to cool. Using sharp tools and cooling,UHMWPE is easier to work. In order to make the parts have a larger section or more fine, mechanical method is commonly used in processing. Machining processes such as drilling, grinding, spinning, sawing, planing and threading are routine. Carbide tools are recommended for long production operations.

Dimensional stability: The prerequisite for obtaining high precision dimensions is the use of semi-finished products that have been treated with internal stress. The heat generated in the machining process will inevitably lead to the release of internal stress, which leads to the deformation of the parts. If the machining amount of the parts is large, after the completion of rough machining to carry out a annealing treatment to eliminate the stress generated in the machining process. We can provide specific annealing temperature and time for various materials. For materials with high water absorption (such as nylon), dehumidify them before processing. The dimensional tolerance of plastics is greater than that of metals, and the coefficient of thermal expansion of plastics is much greater than that of metals.
