What is UASB reaction ?

UASB process is adaptable for much different sewage,and the structure , operation and management are simple , the cost is low and the technology is matured . The UASB reactor is widely used in anaerobic digester .

After flowed into the UASB reactor from the bottom , the sewage upflowed through the sludge bed which is the containing much granular sludge or flocculation sludge , and the anaerobic reaction occurred when the sewage meeting with the sludge . and then the biogas generated . At the same time the internal sewage is agitated and continues the circulation . The three – phase separator at the top reactor will help to separate the gas , the liquid and the solid . After the anaerobic reaction , 80% - 90% of organic waste was decomposed .

What is the process of the anaerobic digester ?

Anaerobic digester (AD) , the first step is the decomposition of plant , animal or other matters , in this process it breaks down the organic material by the micro- organisms in the absence of oxygen .

The second step , after the organic material was break  down ,  the usable-sized molecules will cover the decomposed matters to organic acids .

At the end , the acid are converted to methane gas

Anaerobic digester produces biogas , a methane-rich gas that can be used as a fuel, and digestate , a source of nutrients that can be used as a fertilizer . Increasingly AD is being used to make the most of our waste by turning it into renewable energy .

AD benefits many different groups ; including the local community , industry , farmers and energy entrepreneurs , government and the environment .
