Product Description:

The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP) is used to measure the pressure in the intake manifold. It is usually situated near or on the throttle body of the intake manifold and communicates pressure information to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). By having access to this data, the ECU can accurately calculate air density as well as determine the air-fuel mix for the combustion process. Furthermore, the MAP sensor assists in measuring engine load, fuel injection pulse and permits the ECU to modify ignition timing.

Here are additional uses of a MAP sensor:

  • It can be used in diagnosing any performance problems with the throttle.
  • It can detect potential vacuum leaks in the intake manifold.
  • The MAP sensor signal can be converted into air mass data when used in conjunction with engine speed and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor data.
