Screw-type ship unloaders can be divided into self-propelled, fixed, and floating types according to whether the whole machine can be moved and the installation position. They are suitable for different wharf loading and unloading process systems.

The self-propelled screw ship unloader is characterized by a walking mechanism, which can walk along the track laid at the front of the wharf. It uses the cooperation of walking, rotation, pitch, and swing to unload the cargo hold of seagoing ships. In addition to unloading to the belt conveyor parallel to the wharf shoreline, the discharged materials can also be transferred to the belt conveyor that can pitch around the hinge point at the end of the gantry to directly send the materials to the storage yard.

The self-propelled screw ship unloader is suitable for coastal and inland ports with vertical quay walls. The target ships are various bulk cargo ships. In the loading and unloading process system of the special wharf for bulk cargo such as cement, chemical fertilizer, grain, and coal, the self-propelled screw ship unloader has many successful experiences and has increasingly proved to be an economic and efficient ship unloading equipment.
