Q.Why would the sun light interfere with a barcode scanner?
The barcode scanner has LED light to help recognize the barcode even in dark environment. Sunlight is much brighter than the LED light, so it will weaken the effect of LED light. Also, sunlight would creat the refraction on the barcode scanner to impede decoding the barcode.
