One head of chord reinforcement is male and the other one is female

A chord reinforcement has one male end and one female end. There
are brace hole and chord member bolt hole in the middle of
reinforced chord member. Refer to Fig. 3-166 for connection of
reinforced chord member and upper & lower chord member of truss
frame. The purpose of setting up reinforced chord member is to
improve the bending resistance of truss, and fully display the
function of shearing resistance of truss web member. Because the
bending distance of the bridge end is small, there is no need to
set reinforced chord member in the head and rear end of truss.
