Silver-plated copper wire is called silver-plated copper wire or silver-plated wire in some occasions. It is a thin wire drawn by a wire drawing machine after being plated with silver on oxygen-free copper wire or low-oxygen copper wire.
 

Silver-plated copper wire is silver-plated on high-quality oxygen-free copper or drawn. It has excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and high temperature oxidation resistance. Silver-plated copper wire is widely used in electronics, communications, aerospace, military and other fields to reduce the contact resistance of metal surfaces and improve welding performance. Silver has high chemical stability, can resist alkali and some organic acids, and does not interact with oxygen in general air. It is also easy to polish and has strong reflective ability, so the silver coating is also commonly used in tableware and musical instruments , Jewelry and all kinds of handicraft decoration. However, in the presence of sulfides or halides, silver easily loses its luster.

Copper is also the standard by which all other conductive metals are judged. In 1913, the International Electro-Technical Commission set its conductivity at 100 percent of the International Annealed Copper Standard (IACS). The metal resists galvanic corrosion – the gradual deterioration of one metal in electrical contact with another metal – and is durable enough that it avoids stretching, nicks and breaks. However, copper is not invincible.
