How strong is stainless steel wire?
It is an exceptionally strong wire. For example, Grade 301 and 304 stainless steel possesses a tensile strength of up to 1300 MPa in strip and wire forms. Galvanized steel, with a tensile strength of up to 550 MPa, comparatively, makes stainless steel remarkably strong.

What is the thickest wire you can get?
Now that manufacturers can produce thicker wires than 1/0, gauge number increases with increasing size in the other direction. For example, 2/0 wire is thicker than 1/0 wire, and 4/0 wire, which is the thickest available (0.46 inches in diameter), is thicker than 3/0 wire.
