TT4 is produced by the thyroid gland, about 80-100ug per day. 99.96% of T4 in serum exists in the form of binding to protein, of which 90% is bound to thyroid hormone-binding globulin (TBG). changes will affect the measurement results. Pregnancy, estrogen, acute viral hepatitis, congenital factors, etc. can cause increased TBG, leading to increased TT4; androgens, glucocorticoids, hypoalbuminemia, congenital factors, etc. can cause decreased TBG, leading to decreased TT4.
TT4 increases in hyperthyroidism. Serum total thyroxine is a common indicator for judging hyperthyroidism (commonly known as "hyperthyroidism") or hypothyroidism (commonly known as "hypothyroidism").
Intended Use
This product is used for in vitro quantitative detection of Total
Thyroxine(TT4) in human serum samples.
The method can be used for TT4 samples over the range:
5-350ng/ml(6.45~451.5)nmol/ L;
The test has to be performed on the POClia fully auto analyzer.
