Introduction
Influence factors of lubricant on wire drawing
(1) Concentration. The high concentration of lubricant improves its lubrication. The friction coefficient between metal wire and die hole wall is small, the corresponding friction force is also reduced, and the tensile force is reduced. However, if the concentration is too high, the viscosity of the lubricant also increases, and its flushing effect decreases.
The metal chips in the die hole are not easy to take away, resulting in poor surface quality of the wire rod. If the concentration is too high, the metal chips will not precipitate and suspend in the lubricant, but affect the lubrication effect.
(2) Temperature. The temperature of the lubricating fluid is too high and loses its cooling effect, which increases the temperature of the metal wire rod and die, oxidizes and discolors the wire rod, reduces the service life of the die, and also affects the strength of the grease lubricating film and reduces the lubrication effect. If the temperature is too high, the lubricant viscosity increases, which is not conducive to stretching.
(3) Cleanliness. Mixing acids into the lubricant will cause the lubricant to layer and lose the lubricating effect. The increase of alkali content in lubricant will cause corrosion hazard to the metal wire after drawing. Solid impurities in the lubricant affect the lubrication system of the equipment, resulting in insufficient supply of lubricating fluid and reducing the role of the lubricant.
