The production process of HPMC is like this, purified cotton → add
caustic soda → solvent treatment → etherification → water scrubbing
→ centrifugalization → dry. In food industry, HPMC can be used as

is stable in room temperature.
- The water retaining properties of HPMC depend on the dosage and
viscosity. The water retation rate is higher than MC in the same
HPMC is stable to acid and alkali. Its aqueous solution with PH
between 2 and 12 is very stable. Caustic Acid and whitewash has a
small influence to HPMC properties. But alkali can quicken its
speed of dissolving and increase the viscosity slightly. HPMC is
also stable to normal salts. But if the concentration of salt
solution is high, the viscosity of HPMC solution has a trend of
HPMC can mix water soluble macromolecule compounds to be
homogeneous solution with higher viscosity.
HPMC has better enzymatic resistance and the possibility of enzyme
degradation is much smaller than MC. Meanwhile, the adhesiveness to
the mortar is better than MC.

material drying too fast and poor hardening or cracking.

Generally HPMC with 100000mpa.s is enough for putty powder and for
mortar, HPMC with 150000mpa.s will be better.
