Product Details

CuNi40 alloy resistance electric copper nickel heating wire is a highly useful product that is widely used in various applications. This wire is made from a special alloy that has moderate resistivity and low temperature coefficient of resistance. This means that the wire has a flat resistance/temperature curve over a wider range than other similar alloys such as "manganins". Additionally, the wire also has better corrosion resistance than other alloys.

 

The uses of Constantan wire are mainly restricted to AC circuits. However, it is also commonly used as the negative element of the type J thermocouple, with Iron being the positive. Type J thermocouples are used in heat treating applications. Furthermore, Constantan wire is also used as the negative element of the type T thermocouple, with OFHC Copper being the positive. Type T thermocouples are used at cryogenic temperatures.
