How an ultrasonic cleaner works to clean jewelry

special solvents designed for cleaning jewelry can be utilized however very good results can also be obtained by using water and an environment friendly low pH cleaning agent. Low pH or excessively high pH chemicals should be avoided. These aggressive chemistries in combination with heat and the ultrasonic activity can potentially cause damage to delicate pieces.

In the cleaning process, items are submerged in the cleaning solvent. The intensity of the cleaner as well as the heat of the solution should be adjusted to successfully engage the application. Ultrasonic cleaners work quickly to completely remove dirt and other contamination through a cavitation process.

Jewelry is cleaned in the same way as other items. Items are submerged into a gentle solvent and the cleaning process sends ultrasonic waves through the solution which creates bubbles that clear away all dirt and grime clinging to the jewelry’s surface. In most cases a short two to three minute cleaning is all that is required for optimum results.

Benefits of cleaning jewelry with an ultrasonic cleaner

  • The process reaches parts of the jewelry that are extremely difficult to clean with traditional cleaning methods.
  • Jewelry gets completely clean, leaving it looking brand new.
  • No need to disassemble the jewelry.
  • Multiple pieces can be cleaned at once, saving time and money. Follow manufacturer recommendations for maximum pieces in your ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Gentle cleaning does not damage delicate pieces and allows for cleaning as often as necessary.

Why is Ultrasonic Cleaning so Efficient and Effective?

When cavitation happens near a dirty object, the vacuum action produced by those million of bubbles constantly imploding creates a tiny pressure wave that reaches deep into every nook and cranny of even the most delicate items. This tiny pressure wave dislodges and breaks up the dirt and other contaminants and gently lifts it away. The result is very fast and effective cleaning.

How AGSONIC Ultrasonic Machines Create Cavitation

To create cavitation, AGSONIC Ultrasonic Cleaning Systems use our state-of-the-art Prowave™ Digital Generators to power electro-mechanical transducers that are submerged in a tank of hot water. These generators activate the transducers which then vibrate very quickly. This vibration sends sound waves through the water at frequencies ranging from 25 to 40kHz which produces cavitation.

Steps to cleaning jewelry with an ultrasonic cleaner

  1. Fill chamber with cleaning solvent
  2. Note that water must be hot. Ideally, you would use an ultrasonic cleaner with a heater.
  3. Run a pre-cleaning cycle
  4. Submerge jewelry into cleaning solvent
  5. Run the cleaning cycle
  6. After the cycle is complete, remove the items from the parts basket and rinse the solution from the items
  7. After rinsing brush the pieces with a soft-bristled brush. Paying special attention to brushing around the claws and crowns that hold the gemstones or diamonds in place.
  8. Complete with a final rinse. Place the jewelry in water only and dry with a soft cloth once rinse cycle is complete.

Why Use Ultrasonic Cleaning?

Professionals in the dental, lab and medical fields use ultrasonic systems to clean instruments, apparatus, labware, crowns, dentures and other devices prior to sterilization. Ultrasonic cleaning greatly reduces the risk of cross-contamination and infection that can occur with manual cleaning. This procedure is critical in protecting instruments against hand contact and is at the center of infection risk control

  • Enhance Your Cleaning Process with Ultrasonics
  • Ultrasonic cleaning has become increasingly popular year after year. One reason is that it's an environmentally friendly process capable of replacing some vapor degreasing processes. The second is that it enhances aqueous cleaning processes in many applications...
  • Ultras Wave Explanation

Pressure waves generated by high-frequency sound waves create micron-size bubbles in the aqueous cleaning solution. This bubble is shown just before implosion, which releases a tremendous amount of energy for cleaning

  • Q: Advantages for Ultrasonic Parts Cleaning

A: here are many advantages to cleaning parts with Skymen Ultrasonic Cleaning Systems, not the least of which are our machine’s incredible versatility. In fact, our ‘unofficial’ motto is; If it can fit into water, you can clean it.

While the versatility is one major advantage allowing you to clean almost anything, there are several other advantages that will dramatically benefit both you and your clients/customers. These include:

  • Clean Intricate Items with Ease: Ultrasonics easily reaches deep into even the most finely detailed surfaces.
  • Cleans Fast: Many items can be cleaned in less than two minutes allowing you to quickly return them to your clients.
  • Reduces Labor Costs: Fast cleaning means jobs can be completed in fewer hours.
  • No Harsh/Dangerous Chemicals: Most items can be cleaned in just water with just a few ounces of our environmentally friendly cleaning solutions.
  • Q: How to choose a suitable ultrasonic cleaner

When you contact us regarding a suitable cleaner, please provide the following information:

  • What type of object do you want to clean (metal, plastic, machine part, etc.)?
