C70600 (C706) & C71500 (C715), Copper nickel offers excellent
corrosion resistance, especially in marine salt water environments.
The main, wrought copper-nickel alloys chosen for sea water service
contain 10 or 30 percent nickel. They also have important additions
of iron and manganese which are necessary to maintain good
corrosion resistance. Some of the primary uses for C706 include
copper nickel fittings (CuNi Fittings) as well as condensers and
exchanger shells.
Overview
Copper Nickel alloy Tube has extremely well resistance to
biofouling and marine corrosion, and possess good fabricability.
Copper gains more strength and corrosion resistance when nickel is
added to it. UNS C71500 copper nickel alloy has medium high
strength and good creep resistance at high temperatures. This alloy
is expensive in comparison with copper-aluminum alloys and other
alloys with similar mechanical properties. C71500 copper-nickel is
an alloy of copper, further classified as a copper-nickel . CW354H
is the EN numeric designation for this material. C71500 is the UNS
number. Additionally, the EN chemical designation is CuNi30Mn1Fe.
The British Standard (BS) designation is CN107. And the industry
name is Cupronickel 70/30.
