Excellent weldability and formability, with good corrosion resistance makes 3003 Aluminum Plate a popular and economical choice. 3003 Aluminum Plate has a smooth, shiny finish and is popular for many cosmetic and industrial applications, including: decorative trim, fuel tanks, food & chemical handling, trailer siding & roofing, etc.

3003 common alloy aluminum - a manganese alloy, part of the common alloy group. 3003 is the most widely used of all aluminum alloys. It is essentially commercially pure aluminum with the addition of manganese which increases the strength approx. 20% over 1100 grade aluminum alloy. 3003 may show some slight discoloration when anodized, but it reacts well to mechanical and organic finishings. Aluminim 3003 is easily welded and brazed, but soldering is limited to the torch method. It has all the excellent characteristics of 1100 with higher strength. It has excellent corrosion resistance, workability, and it may be deep drawn or spun, welded or brazed. It is non heat treatable. Like 1100, 3003 aluminum tends to be gummy when machined, but will perform somewhat satisfactorily in the higher tempers with the proper set-up and maximum speeds. Typical end uses include food and chemical handling equipment, appliance components, truck/trailer roofing, heat exchangers, pipe jacketing, and lawn furniture components.
