How a thermistor works

When the thermistor is installed in the circuit for use, when the thermistor is at the same ambient temperature, the action time is shortened sharply as the current increases; the thermistor has a shorter action time and a smaller temperature when the ambient temperature is relatively high. The maintenance current and operating current. When the circuit is working normally, the temperature of the thermistor is close to room temperature and the resistance is very small, and the series connection in the circuit will not hinder the passage of current; and when the circuit has an overcurrent due to a fault, the temperature of the thermistor will rise due to the increase in heating power. When the temperature exceeds the switch temperature, the resistance will increase sharply instantly, and the current in the loop will quickly decrease to a safe value.

The characteristics of the thermistor are as follows:

1) High sensitivity, its temperature coefficient of resistance is 10 to 100 times larger than that of metal, and can detect temperature changes of 10-6°C;
2) The working temperature range is wide, the normal temperature device is suitable for -55°C ~ 315°C, the high temperature device is suitable for a temperature higher than 315°C (currently the highest can reach 2000°C), and the low temperature device is suitable for -273°C ~ -55°C;
3) It is small in size and can measure the temperature of gaps, cavities and blood vessels in living organisms that cannot be measured by other thermometers;
4) Easy to use, the resistance value can be arbitrarily selected between 0.1 ~ 100kΩ;
