DESCRIPTION
This watch is another colorful work of art by husband and wife team
Leander and Lisa Othole. The sterling silver watch tips are inlaid
with pieces of orange and red spiny oyster, jet and Sleeping Beauty
turquoise. Small slivers of sterling silver separate each stone.
The technique is known as channeling.
The complimentary and adjustable stretch band has been included for
your convenience. The watch movement features a white Mother of
Pearl face, three silver tone hands and italicized black numbers at
each hour mark.
INFO
Spiny oyster is a clam shell oyster that can be found between the
Northeast coast of Mexico and the East coast of Baha California in
the Sea of Cortez. The shell functions the same as all clam shells
but it is quite ugly on the outside with long hard extensions and a
rough shell. The rest of the shell can be beautiful in different
colors ranging from red, orange, yellow, purple and other shades.
Each shell is cut in different sizes and shell pieces are polished
for use. Much like a rough stone the polishing brings out
incredible gorgeous colors! Native Americans have used shells for
decades for various reasons from wampum as money to shells for
jewelry.
The small pits in the shell show its authenticity. Manmade shells,
made of an epoxy or plastic material, will be smooth with no pits
or grooves.
Native American silversmiths use their own techniques in developing
their designs in their jewelry. They work with small pieces of
coral, jet and turquoise arranged in complex patterns. The small
cut stones are set in to the jewelry by 3 different techniques.
Needlepoint, channel or mosaic inlay. In needlepoint each stone is
individually cut then mounted in its own silver bezel. When doing
channel work, the silversmith constructs a honeycomb of silver
pockets or channels. Within the channel he cements a small piece of
stone. Mosaic inlay has its origin in the prehistoric techniques.
Cut stones are arranged side by side into a mosaic which is
enclosed in a silver bezel which is then mounted on a silver plate.
an epoxy or plastic material, will be smooth with no pits or
grooves.

BRACELET SIZE
If you are not sure of your wrist size for a bracelet, try these
steps~
Wrap a loose measuring tape or piece of string around the bone area
of your wrist from point to point. Where the measuring tape meets
together you will see your wrist size. If using a string, lay it
flat on a ruler and you will determine your size. It is highly
recommended that you buy only the bracelets that will fit your
wrists. To stretch a bracelet to fit on your wrist, not only are
you putting stress on the silver but also on the stones - so please
know your sizes! All of our items are inspected and mailed with
stones intact.
