1. Description of WL15 Electrode Lanthanum Tungsten Electrode:

 

Lanthanum tungsten electrode has excellent welding performance, and the electrical conductivity is closest to 2% thoriated tungsten electrode, and there is no radioactive hazard. Welders can easily and quickly replace thoriated tungsten electrode with this electrode without changing any welding operation procedures. Therefore, lanthanum tungsten electrode Became the most popular alternative to 2% thoriated tungsten electrodes in Europe and Japan. Lanthanum tungsten electrodes are primarily used in DC welding, but also perform well in AC welding.

3. Advantage of WL15 Electrode Lanthanum Tungsten Electrode:


The tungsten lanthanum electrode with a content of 1.5% (which is different from the content of 2.0%) has the electrical conductivity that is closest to that of a 2.0% tungsten-thorium electrode. Therefore, the welder can easily replace the electrode without changing the parameters of the equipment.

 

In 1998, there was a well-known field test, that is, 2.0% thorium tungsten electrode, 2.0% cerium tungsten electrode and 1.5% lanthanum tungsten electrode were welded under 70A and 150A current, 300V DC environment respectively. The result is , In both cases, the 1.5% lanthanum tungsten electrode showed its excellent welding performance, and also reflected its small burn rate. Lanthanum tungsten electrodes are also suitable for AC welding tasks with excellent performance.

 

Better mechanical cutting performance, better creep resistance, high recrystallization temperature and good ductility.

 

4. Process method of WL15 Electrode Lanthanum Tungsten Electrode:


A manufacturing method of lanthanum tungsten electrode relates to a manufacturing method of tungsten electrode which is mainly used in the technical fields of TIG (tungsten inert gas shielded welding) and PLASMA (plasma) for metal welding, cutting, spraying and melting.
 

(1) Using lanthanum acetate and a slurry made of solid raw materials including APT, WO3 and W powder plus water to mix uniformly to prepare lanthanum-tungsten coated powder;

 

(2) The decomposition process of the lanthanum salt in the lanthanum-tungsten coated powder is carried out simultaneously with the reduction process in a hydrogen atmosphere. The primary reduction temperature is controlled at 600~700°C, the time is 2~3 hours, and the secondary reduction temperature is controlled at 800- 970℃, the hydrogen flow rate is 0.5-2.0m3/h during the process.
