Z208
Z208 Cast Iron Welding Electrode
Accord with:GB/T 10044 EZC
Description:
Z208 is a graphitic type coating cast iron electrode with carbon
steel core. Both AC and DC can be applied in welding. Weld seam
metal has excellent crack resistibility. And its price is cheaper.
Applications:
It is used for repairing welding defects for gray cast iron.
Chemical Composition of Deposited Metal: (%)
C | Mn | Si | S | P | Fe | |
Standard | 2.00-4.00 | ≤0.75 | 2.50-6.50 | ≤0.10 | ≤0.15 | The rest |
Typical | 2.70 | 0.40 | 4.20 | 0.006 | 0.020 |
Recommended Current (AC or DC)
Size(mm) | 2.5*300 | 3.2*350 | 4.0*400 | 5.0*400 |
Current(A) | 60-90 | 90-120 | 150-180 | 190-220 |
Attention:
a. welding electrodes must be baked for 1 hour at the temperature
of 150ºC before welding.
b. For cast iron parts bearing impact stress, it is not good to use
it.
c. For welding detects of small and thin cast iron parts fabricated
by low steel, welding electrodes need not be preheated. For general
welding pipes, welding electrodes should be preheated to around
400ºC, cool it after welding and the welding zone may be processed
by cutting.
Z308
Z308 Cast Iron Welding Electrode
Accord with:GB/T 10044 EZNi-1
Equivalent norm: AWS A5.15 ENi-C1
Description:
Z308 is a covered welding electrode with pure nickel core and graphitic coating for cast iron. The Weld seam metal has excellent machinability and crack resistibility. Both AC and DC can be applied.
Applications:
It is used for repairing welding thin pieces and processing surface
of cast iron, as well as important grey cast iron pieces, such as
engine gear box, machining tools, guideway, etc
Chemical Composition of Deposited Metal: (%)
C | Mn | Si | S | Ni | Fe | Others | |
Standard | ≤2.0 | ≤1.0 | ≤2.50 | ≤0.03 | ≥90 | ≤8.0 | ≤1.0 |
Typical | 0.59 | 0.07 | 1.50 | 0.004 | 94 | 0.021 |
Recommended Current (AC or DC)
Size(mm) | 2.5*300 | 3.2*350 | 4.0*400 | 5.0*400 |
Current(A) | 60-90 | 90-110 | 120-150 | 150-180 |
Attention:
a. welding electrodes must be baked for 1 hour at the temperature
of 80-120ºC before welding.
b. Hammering the welded seam to dispel stress around the welding
region and to avoid cracking.
c. Large current should be avoided in cold welding for cast iron,
so as to reduce impurities of base metal to penetrate the weld seam
and to reduce the width of the weld zone, and then to improve the
ability of crack-resistance and capability of machine processing of
the weld seam.
Z408
Z408 Cast Iron Welding Electrode
Accord with:GB/T 10044 EZNiFe-1
Equivalent norm: AWS A5.15 ENiFe-C1
Description:
Z408 is a graphitic (with strong reducing) type coating with Ni/Fe
core welding electrodes for cast iron. It has features as follows:
high toughness, excellent plasticity, low linear expansion
coefficient, etc. Both AC and DC can be applied with welding.
Applications:
It is used for repairing welding important and high toughness parts
made of cast iron and modular iron, such as cylinder head, motor
stand, gear wheel, etc.
Chemical Composition of Deposited Metal: (%)
C | Mn | Si | S | Ni | Fe | Al | Cu | |
Standard | ≤2.0 | ≤2.5 | ≤4.0 | ≤0.03 | 45-60 | The rest | ≤1.0 | ≤2.50 |

Current(A) | 50-80 | 80-110 | 110-140 | 150-180 |
Attention:
a. welding electrodes must be baked for 1 hour at the temperature
of 150ºC before welding.
b. Small current is the best to be adopted.
Z508
Z508 Cast Iron Welding Electrode
Accord with:GB/T 10044 EZNiCu-1
Equivalent norm: AWS A5.15 ENiCu-B
Description:
Z508 is a graphitic (with strong reducing) type coating with Cu-Ni alloy (Monel) core welding electrodes for cast iron. Its technology properties and machinabilities are both close to those of Z308 and it is not suitable for welding pressed position, but suitable for welding gray cast iron.
Applications:
It is used for repairing welding gray iron casting strength of
which is not so highly required.
Chemical Composition of Deposited Metal: (%)
C | Mn | Si | S | Ni | Fe | Cu | |

Attention:
a. welding electrodes must be baked for 1 hour at the temperature
of 150ºC before welding.
b. When welding, narrow weld seam is recommended and its length
should be less than 50mm, and after welding, hammer the weld metal
immediately to dispel stress around the welding region and avoid
cracking.
