Mesh Pad Demister Introduction

 

The performance of the mist eliminator was evaluated by the droplet separation efficiency, the vapor pressure drop of the wet mist eliminator, and the overflow and loading speed. These factors are measured as a function of vapor velocity (0.98–7.5 m/s), packing density (80.317–208.16 kg/m3), pad thickness (100–200 cm), wire diameter (0.2–0.32 mm), and diameter Captured droplets (1-5 mm). All measurements are within the range of actual wire mesh fog.

 

Mesh Pad Demister Working Principle

 

The demister pads work by coalescing smaller liquid droplets by obstructing their path. Obstruction of the path causes increased collisions among the liquid droplets. Most of these droplets stick together and form bigger droplets that are too heavy to rise with the gas stream. Thus the more significant liquid drops drop down in the pool of liquid below. The gas stream is not affected by the obstruction in the path and escapes through the top vapor outlet. The obstruction in the path of liquid droplets can be achieved by a variety of geometries. Demister pad may be a mesh-type coalescer, vane pack, or other structure intended to aggregate the mist into droplets that are heavy enough to separate from the vapor stream.
