A: 3-5 drops are recommended in most diffusers, including this one. It is really a matter of users preference and sense sensitivities.
Yes, you do not have to use oils, it's just like a humidifier without the oil.

A: Just wipe it dry with a clean cloth every week or so to clean it out.
