Introduction to US EPA certification
EPA is the acronym for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Its
main task is to protect human health and the natural environment.
EPA certification: It is a compulsory environmental certification
in the United States.
EPA certification is mainly aimed at environmental certification of
emission performance. The EPA tests the engine emissions of
locomotives and confirms that it meets the minimum environmental
protection standards based on the vehicle's performance and
emissions values.
EPA is headquartered in Washington, with 10 local offices and dozens of laboratories. There are 18,000 employees across the United States. More than half of them are engineers, scientists, and policy analysts. Responsible for setting national standards for many environmental projects and monitoring the implementation and compliance of mandatory standards.
Applicable area
If the goods are sold and sold in 49 states other than California,
you only need to apply for EPA verification; if the goods need to
import and export to California, you need to apply for CARB
verification.
Applicable product range
EPA certification products include: inspection and certification of
diesel / gasoline engine equipment, retail car parts, gas, water
treatment equipment, drinking water, pesticides, etc.
From January 1, 2006, the US EPA will implement new environmental
protection regulations. Automobiles and motorcycles exported to the
US must pass the EPA certification, obtain the EPA certificate and
attach the logo before entering the US market.
Preparing for EPA certification
Preliminary work for EPA certification
· Apply for manufacturer code (need to cooperate with the
manufacturer)
· Identify contacts
· Prepare product information (need to cooperate with the factory)
· Testing of small engines (requires factory cooperation)
· submit application
* Product information includes product technical information,
contact person, gasoline engine model, serial number, etc. that
need to be certified. If you need to keep it confidential, please
indicate it as "trade secret".
Application process
1.Apply manufacturer code to EPA
2. Prepare product information and samples
3. Emission test in the laboratory to prove compliance with
emission standards
4. The manufacturer cooperates with providing information, and we
are responsible for preparing a complete certification application
5. Submit certification application and test data like EPA
6. EPA review data (During the review process, the EPA will decide
whether additional information is needed and whether a verification
test is required based on the information provided and test data.)
7. Pass the examination and issue the certificate (The EPA
certificate is an annual certificate. The certificate expires on
December 31 when the end of the year or a specific pattern is
