It is suitable for the quantitative determination of β-hCG in serum in vitro. Human chorionic (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone secreted by the placental syncytiotrophoblast during pregnancy. The structurally intact hCG molecule consists of two non-covalently linked polypeptides, which are divided into α subunits and β subunits. The α subunit is non-specific and has the same structure as the α subunit of other pituitary hormones such as thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone (LH). β-subunits are specific, so they are often used as target antigens to detect various hCG-related molecules containing β-subunits, including regular and notch hCG, free β-subunits, and β-core fragments. hCG in the blood is an important indicator for diagnosing ectopic pregnancy, and it is also the main marker for diagnosing trophoblastic diseases such as early pregnancy and mole.
