GE Fanuc IC697CPU731 is a 12 MHz, 32 Kbyte Central Processing Unit using the 80C186 microprocessor. This CPU’s single slot is located inside the PLC rack. IC697CPU731 uses MS-DOS or Windows programming software (over Ethernet TCP/IP or through the SNP port) for this module to perform proper programming and configuration. There is no provision for jumpers or DIP switches for configuration. At the time of power-up and operation, this CPU performs verification of configuration. The alarm function can report deviations in actual and programmed configuration.

 

Functions of IC697CPU731 include controlling processes, machines, and systems to handle materials in real time. The CPU can support up to 8K analog I/O modules including the discrete and analog module family of IC697. It communicates with smart option modules and I/O using a Standard format of VME C.1. The user can control module operation using three-position operation mode switch or programming software. Three green LEDs are present, which indicate CPU status.

 

The user must properly install the PLC equipment for safe, reliable operation. Before installation of IC697CPU731, the power provided to PLC must be OFF. The user can connect the module and the battery through battery connectors. After diagnostics completion and CPU programming, the user can move the toggle switch to perform the desired operation, and the green LEDs will continue to show the present state of the program. BTM (Bus transmitter module IC697BEM713) provides the high-performance parallel interface. This CPU comes with lithium battery IC697ACC701 for maintenance of data and program memory and calendar clock.

About IC697CPU731

The GE Fanuc IC697CPU731 CPU is part of the GE Series 90-70 product line of components that are made to be connected as PLCs or programmable logic controller systems. It is a single-slot CPU, which means that it only needs to be installed in 1 slot in a PLC baseplate to stay securely in place and to operate properly. The purpose of the IC697CPU731 CPU is to process the data it receives from as many as 512 inputs and outputs that can be arranged in any mix. It can also support 8000 analog I/O. The microprocessor that this CPU uses is an 80C186 Microprocessor that is rated at 12 Mhz. The data and program memory in the IC697CPU731 CPU can be configured by the users.

 

The GE Fanuc Series 90-70 IC697CPU731 CPU can be programmed through DOS or Windows-based software to control material handling systems and application processes in real time. It uses the backplane of the PLC that it is part of to communicate with the connected I/O modules and with various smart option modules if the PLC has any. Some of the compatible smart option modules that are available include multiple Communications modules and Coprocessor modules and the IC697 LAN interface modules IC697 discrete and analog I/O modules. The operation of the modules can be controlled with a switch that can be set to 1 of 3 positions or it can be controlled remotely through a connected programmer and programming software.
