5-axis CNC machines:

 

  1. Multi-axis CNC machining centers are available in three variations: 5-axis indexed CNC milling, continuous 5-axis CNC milling, and mill-turning centers with live tooling. These systems are essentially milling machines or lathes that have additional degrees of freedom. For instance, 5-axis CNC milling centers enable the rotation of the machine bed or the toolhead, or both, in addition to the 3 linear axes of movement.
  2. However, these advanced capabilities come with an increased cost. They require specialized machinery and operators with expert knowledge. In cases where highly complex or topology-optimized metal parts are involved, 3D printing is often a more suitable option.
  3. In the case of 5-axis CNC machines, the cutting tool can move along 3 linear and 2 rotational axes relative to the workpiece. During all machining operations, all 5 axes can move simultaneously.
  4. Continuous 5-axis CNC milling machines have a similar architecture to indexed 5-axis CNC milling machines. The key difference is that continuous 5-axis CNC milling allows for the movement of all 5 axes simultaneously during all machining operations. This capability enables the production of parts with complex and "organic" geometries that cannot be manufactured at the achieved level of accuracy using any other technology.

A2: The lead time for tooling fabrication and sample production depends on the specifications of your parts. Typically, it takes around 40 to 45 days for tooling fabrication and the subsequent sample production. However, if tooling is not required, the lead time for samples alone is usually 15 days.

 

Q3: Can I get prototypes for testing before proceeding with tooling?
A3: Yes, we have a dedicated team in our factory that supports prototype development through machining processes. We can fabricate prototypes for you to conduct testing and evaluation.

 

Q4: How are the samples and production orders shipped?
A4: Samples are typically shipped using reliable courier services such as DHL, UPS, or FedEx. We work with our trusted forwarders, and the shipping fees can be arranged as either prepaid or freight collect. For production orders, they are usually shipped by sea or air, depending on your requirements.

 

Q5: How do you ensure the quality of the parts?
A5: We have a comprehensive quality control process in place. Firstly, our team inspects all incoming materials to ensure their quality. During production, our QC team conducts inspections at various stages, including in-process inspections. Once the production is complete, a final inspection is carried out on the finished products. We provide a Quality Inspection Report along with the samples and production order to ensure transparency and accountability in the quality assurance process.
